JUMBO WILD

CLIENT // PATAGONIA

YEAR: 2015

Critically acclaimed “Jumbo Wild” offers gripping insight into the decades-long battle over the primordial wilderness surrounding British Columbia’s Jumbo Valley. Deep in the Purcell Mountain Range, this landscape is sacred ground for the Ktunaxa First Nations people and essential habitat for the grizzly bear; its deep winters revered by backcountry snowboarders and skiers. 1n 1991 a cadre of developers successfully obtained permits to construct the Jumbo Glacier Mountain Resort in the heart of this open space. Nestled among sublime ski and snowboard footage, Jumbo Wild highlights the nuanced disagreements between those who wished to protect Jumbo Valley and those who were hell bent on bringing the all-season ski resort to fruition.
